Conduct an annual audit and review of your CCTV to check that it is still necessary, relevant, correctly managed and fit for purpose. If yours is a small owner operated system this can be achieved using a simple checklist.

Consider employing the services of an independent auditor for larger systems that have a manned CCTV surveillance control room, particularly if any element of Public Space Surveillance is carried out.

A similar independent audit could be particularly useful where a Data Controller is responsible for multiple sites where uniform policy compliance and system performance should be checked to ensure that the CCTV remains fit for purpose.
