Consider Workforce Attitudes

When introducing CCTV it would certainly be sensible to consider any impact on workforce relations. There is bound to be suspicion that the system may be used by management to snoop on staff activities, deal with this by addressing a clear statement of purpose to your staff;

CCTV video recording is operated for purposes of security, safety and good management. It is not the employers policy to use the CCTV system to specifically monitor staff performance; however the employer reserves the right to submit video evidence that may have been recorded during the normal operation of the system to substantiate allegations of criminal activity, gross misconduct, or behaviour which puts others at risk.

It would certainly be good practice to incorporate this statement into a sign displayed in the staff area.

Video evidence could be ruled inadmissible if you have not made your workforce fully aware of the purposes of the system.
