Disclosure of CCTV Images - Evidence

Ensure that, except for law enforcement bodies, images will not be provided to third parties.

Any such images must only be downloaded to WORM (Write Once Read Many) CD’s or DVD’s that the police can use to investigate crime. These images must easily be taken from the system when required and played back on any player without the need for specialist software.

Any recordings that are downloaded must be the controlled subject of a documented audit trail.

It is good practice to issue a Working Copy to the Police and retain an Archive Copy on site, these discs to be identified by matching Unique Reference Number’s (URN) indelibly printed during manufacture.

Duplicates of these discs may only be issued if documented and bearing a URN.
