Step 7Storing & Viewing CCTV ImagesImages from your system must be stored in a secure manner where only authorised staff and law enforcement agencies may have access to them. This way the integrity of the image is maintained ensuring that the rights of the individuals recorded on the system are protected and that the material can be used in court. Viewing of recorded images by authorised third parties should take place in a restricted area. Viewing of live images on monitors should be restricted to the operator unless the monitor displays images which are in plain sight. Using CCTV to look into a person’s home or any other property not connected with the stated purposes of the CCTV scheme would be an invasion of privacy and must be avoided. Cameras that are capable of such views must be physically or electronically masked to avoid them. |
